Stephen Hurd
Over the last decade, Stephen Hurd has distinguished himself
as one of the leading voices in urban praise and worship
music. Stephen takes great joy in
serving as Assistant Minister of Music at his home church, First Baptist Church
of Glenarden in Landover, Md., under Pastor John Jenkins. In addition to being a worship leader,
songwriter, and recording artist, Steven is an educator in worship ministry,
running workshops and being involved in larger conferences. He believes that worship is “tapping into
God’s heart and making a commitment to live in that space.” Because this is
something that he practices, Stephen has become prolific in the posture of
praise. He uses his innate ability to authentically usher in the presence of
the Lord through corporate worship. It’s
that passion for ministry that landed Stephen among a who’s who of praise and
worship practitioners on Gospel Today’s August 2005 cover. He’s designed his
sixth CD, O That Men Would Worship, as a tool to inspire men to take on a
greater leadership role in conducting worship.
Steven believes when men understand their place in the worship community
and step up into that role, their family relationships will be stronger and the
whole community will be blessed.
